EXCELLENTVerified Azmy the Great - Book your tour! Dr. Azmy Salama with Secrets of Egypt Tours was my family’s guide for our week-long trip to Egypt. One week is not a lot of time to see Cairo, let alone travel anywhere else, and we aren’t very well-versed in international travel, so… We gave Dr. Salama a list of a couple locations we wanted to visit (like the pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum, and a day trip to visit Alexandria), the dates we’d be there, and the flight info we had at the time. He got back to me in a very timely manner happy to accommodate our family of 4 plus one friend with a custom itinerary tailored to give us a more comprehensive understanding of the history and sites we planned on visiting. He would have booked our hotel, too, but we had already chosen one we liked. Dr. Salama and our driver for the week, Ahmed, picked us up from Cairo International Airport, loaded our luggage into our private van, and drove us straight to our hotel—he even brought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers and would have grabbed more had he known my mom and sister would be joining. It’s safe to say that, from that moment on, we were in very good hands for the duration of our trip. Not only is Dr. Salama incredibly well-educated, having decades of experience in Egyptology, Archaeology, and tourism, but his enthusiasm and passion for the culture are contagious. He was also very intent on making sure we got good photos, squatting down to get all the angles. There was hardly a dull moment, and he was receptive to all of the questions we had. The week flew by too quickly, but it was certainly the trip of a lifetime. Azmy’s tagline is “come as a guest, leave as a friend” for a reason: by the end of the trip, he and Ahmed felt like part of the family.Should we ever have the chance to visit Egypt again, I know who I would be reaching out to, without hesitation.Verified Amazing trip ! He even anticipated our needs before we even knew to ask for something. He takes AMAZING photos and even takes you to the underappreciated sites. He has a very bright, funny, and lovely personality. His enthusiasm radiates and it's clear that he loves what he does. We could not recommend him enough!Verified Cairo Luxor Hurghada Azmy is the real deal for Egyptian tour guides. He is an academic Egyptologist (so much so his photo is on the USAID summary poster for Memphis 2015-2017) who also specialises in Heritage Management, using tourism as a way to preserve monuments - and lucky us that he does as he is brilliant!He is knowledgeable and enthusiastic, fantastic with children (we are a group of five aged 9-49), well organised, thorough and reliable. Our cultural tour was designed, including logistics, by Azmy. We split our Easter holiday 4 days culture (Cairo/ Luxor) and 4 days beach (Hurghada). In Cairo, Azmy arranged the itinerary to include things we would not have planned independently - Memphis, Sakkara, Giza and the National Museum plus Coptic and Islamic Cairo and the Souk. He organised the days (timings, taxis, lunch, some shops) and introduced the locations as a timeline bringing visual resources in his folder so he could brief the group at each stop which was excellent for first time visitors. In Luxor, Azza guided us through 2 days, one west bank (Hatshepsut temple and valley of the kings) one east bank (Karnak temple and Luxor Temple). She took time to point out unique elements and cross-reference the stories connecting each place. She got us up and out early to avoid crowds and recommended a Nile boat and restaurant in an area we wanted to visit which was hugely helpful. We felt really safe and supported in what can be a pretty chaotic environment. I wholeheartedly recommend this company!Verified Family trip to Cairo and Luxor We stayed in Cairo and Luxor over the course of 5 days and had a wonderful experience of Egyptian culture.We were guided around Cairo with Azmy Salama and visited Giza, Memphis and Saqqara and were given an insight into the timeline of Egyptian history.Azmy was brilliant and it was very reassuring to see a picture of him excavating on the information boards in Memphis. The driver was great and made us feel very safe on the busy roads.Our stay in Luxor was no less special. Azza took us round the Karnak and Luxor temples and took us to places inside the temples that we wouldn’t have found without her.She was ready to answer any question we had and we enjoyed the trip greatly.Verified Cairo and Luxor experience Azmy Salama in Cairo and Azza in Luxor were simply amazing. Incredibly welcoming, well informed and indeed highly qualified (egyptologist and archaeologist who has excavated and developed these sites) and truly helped us understand and appreciate this amazing country and all its wonders. We visited Saqqara, Memphis, Giza, National Museum, Karnak and Luxor temple and Valley of the kings and we will come back. We were well looked after at all times including being met at the airport and assisted through the visa process, transfers and taxis. I would highly recommend them both, you will not be disappointed.Verified Amazing Day Trips I spent 2 days with Azmy Salama touring some amazing locations in Cairo without any hassle. He is a genuine, friendly and very knowledgable tour guide (a qualified Egyptologist and Archaeologist unlike some "tour guides" out there), who I would recommend to anyone visiting Egypt. We visited Giza Pyramids, Saqqara, Dashur, Memphis, Coptic Cairo and Islamic Cairo.
